Job Description:

This executive-level financial position reports to the CCO of a very unique and astute investment firm. The CFO should have a solid tax background along with prior experience in raising capital for additional funding and have some asset management experience in their background. Coming from a Broker/Dealer with some fixed income experience is also a huge plus. It is a direct hire. The CFO oversees financial planning, statutory reporting, forecasting, budgeting, controls and analysis; performs operational financial analysis and partners with functional leaders to drive revenue and expense management initiatives; leads risk management function and provides pricing/contracting support; manages statutory audits; provides input on strategic distribution partnerships/alliances/joint ventures; coordinates business review; assists with investor relations; prepares quarterly operating presentations; and leads finance teams in support of multiple product lines. Must have series 27 and understand statutory provisions relating to the broker/dealer financial responsibility and recordkeeping.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with the CCO and business leaders, brings financial and strategic thinking and solutions, driving the organization's short-term and long-term goals and objectives.
  • Generates forecasts and analyzes trends in sales, SG&A, product line profitability and other areas of business. Researches economic progressions to assist in financial planning. Presents findings and recommendations to management. Responsible for budget planning and analysis.
  • Leads product and new business pricing. Drives strategic decision making through an in-depth understanding of industry trends, market dynamics and internal key indicators. Drives operational improvement, business risk management and business development ideas across functional areas.
  • Responsible for the overall revenue, operating income and SG&A aspects of the business to ensure established financial targets are achieved.
  • Leads actuarial analysis and services in support of medical analysis, trend projections and rate negotiations. Oversees and analyzes financial and claims data to evaluate utilization and unit price trends. Designs and oversees ad hoc health cost analyses.
  • Prices products consistent with financial and business objectives. Balances growth and profitability goals to maximum results. Assists and participates in negotiations and presentations where appropriate.
  • Responsible for developing the organization's premium rate structure through the forecasting of financial/statistical data in a manner which is actuarially sound and competitive in the marketplace; this includes proforma development, cash flow analysis and financial projections.
  • Proactively monitors trends to identify risks and opportunities across key revenue and expense categories. Establishes benchmarks and scorecards to assist leadership in managing the fiscal discipline of their functions. Facilitates root cause analysis and solutions identification. Presents solutions and timelines to executive teams when large scale change or trade offs are identified.
  • Drives strategic decision making through an in-depth understanding of industry trends, market dynamics and internal key indicators. Drives operational improvement, business risk management and business development ideas across functional areas.

Responsibilities:

  • 4 year degree in finance, accounting, business or a related field (or equivalent education and experience). Masters in Accounting or MBA, while not essential, is preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred.
  • At least 10 years progressively responsible financial and operational management experience; multi-divisional, multi-year financial experience required; prior experience as a Chief Financial Officer in a publicly traded company preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry specific accounting principles and other regulatory requirements with an ability to apply that knowledge to both practical and theoretical situations.
  • Advanced knowledge of the financial brokerage arena, including experience in the institutional banking side of the business is essential along with knowledge of financial principles series #27.
  • Merger, acquisition and divestiture experience preferred.
  • Ability to anticipate accounting, financial reporting and operational issues, assess their implications, determine their impact and develop and implement an appropriate action plan.
  • Strong ability to influence across a matrixed organization and drive revenue enhancement and expense management initiatives.
  • Solid organizational, problem solving, and inter-personal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills. Strong executive presentation skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of financial systems, statements and reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to source, select, develop, promote and retain top financial talent. Effective coach and mentor to management and staff personnel.
  • Active change agent within and outside finance.
