Rate: $120,000 - $140,000 + bonus
Job Description:
This position is a key manager in administering the tax planning function and providing tax related support for the various administrative functions and business lines. The incumbent shall work to develop relationships and work closely with the various business lines to determine the tax consequences of current and proposed business transactions to ensure the integrity of the tax position. The incumbent will strive to understand transactions and to be trusted business partners/advisors of the various business lines. The incumbent will also identify, analyze and prioritize tax issues and opportunities to minimize tax exposures. The incumbent will work closely with other members of the tax management team and will have the opportunity and responsibility of gaining a broad knowledge of federal, state and international tax matters and communicating tax positions identified and implemented to the balance of the tax team.
- Establish/foster relationships with business line personnel to enhance management of tax sensitive products and minimize risks associated with tax.
- Manage specific tax planning projects with respect to a variety of transactions.
- Coordinate the implementation of projects with the various groups within the tax department as well as with other departments. (accounting, finance, etc.)
- Coordinate with the Accounting Policy and Corporate Development groups to assist in structuring and analysis of merger and acquisition and other transactions.
- Work with outside advisors on transactional planning projects.
- Develop and implement processes to minimize tax risk and liabilities.
- Manage selected areas of audits.
Basic Qualificiations:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years corporate tax planning background with experience in federal, state and international taxation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strategic planning background and experience dealing with tax accounting implications of transactional tax projects.
- Proven track record of working closely with various groups within a corporate structure including treasury, finance, operations, etc.
- Track record of problem solving, strategic/creative thinking and business communication skills.
- Knowledge of low income housing tax credits and new markets tax credits preferred.
- CPA and/or MBA preferred.
